Ecological footprints are becoming a hot topic of discussion throughout the world. This reflects our way of life and the impact of that on our environment. These footprints, also referred to as CO2 footprints, show exactly how much or how little impact human activities have on the environment. RCN centres in the Netherlands and France have proven themselves during the past 55 years to be areas where thousands of holiday makers come to relax. RCN employees are always working on creating an environment to which these holiday makers would love to return for years to come. As an RCN guest you have the opportunity to enjoy nature in its full glory within our centres and as a result the footprints on around RCN centres are innumerable. All human activities deliver CO2, but this is unavoidable and not bad in itself, but by paying attention to the little things we can contribute to a healthier environment.

The initiative of requiring guests to take their own plates to the snack bar is anew initiative and RCN hopes that this will result in a reduction of the usage of plastic cutlery. Some may say that this is but a drop in the ocean, and while this may be true nothing will ever change if we do not take any steps in this direction. RCN is therefore taking the initiative to take small steps in the right direction. RCN is trying to consider the environment in various fields, but this is not always easy and you may sometimes even come across certain things that make you think "Why don't they do it differently?" RCN is open for any suggestions you may have and we hope that you will make use of the suggestion boxes we have available at our centres.

We hope to be able to count on your assistance by bringing your own plates, rather than use the plastic ones available for your snacks. We are even prepared to reward you for this! A family pack of French fries in a plastic package, for instance costs € 1.50, and € 1.25 per portion, while the price is reduced to only € 1.00 per portion served on your own plate! It clearly pays to help us look after the environment, certainly as far as your own pocket is concerned. This can only make your fries taste that much better.
