Relaxing fun holiday
Lovely secluded pitch surrounded by trees with private shower and toilet. The shower block even came with a small heater inside for the cold days. The pond was very clean and our kids loved the slides. The splash pool could have been warmer. Only problem was the noise at night, nobody to police the groups of teenagers swimming until 10pm and walking around shouting until 11pm. Left very tired!

An excellent site let down by awful service at the brasserie and some guests
First off: the good. This is obviously a well-run site, it was clean and spacious. From initial booking to arrival the systems and communication were excellent and clear, we were able to go straight to our pitch. We'd treated ourselves to a pitch with private bathroom which was spotless on arrival. We didn't have much of a chance to use the leisure facilities but they looked well maintained and very child friendly. The location is great for visiting the Efteling theme park which was an easy half hour drive. The bad: the weather had been appalling during the week before our visit, there is nothing to be done about this, but our pitch was boggy and we could only use a portion of it, and had to put some tent pegs into a thicket of trees and bushes. We nearly got our car stuck on the field trying to drive off it as there were so many divots from previous vehicles. (On the day we left the site were taking caravans off with their tractor). Again, not the campsite's fault but perhaps they could have laid hay or similar at the entrance to the camping fields to help with this. My worst review is for the brasserie - we had traveled all day and after setting up our tent we decided to treat ourselves to a meal. I wish we hadn't as the service was so bad (I worked in hospitality for many years so am usually very forgiving). First of all we were ignored at our table until eventually we had to go to the bar to ask for a menu. Then we had to return to the bar to ask for a server to take our order. When our food (which was very good) arrived the steak that our son had ordered did not. We waited, and then after ten minutes returned (again) to the bar to enquire when it was coming. A different waitress than the one who took the order then came to tell us that the first waitress hadn't actually put it through (even though she had checked at the time how he'd wanted it cooked?) and so there was no meal for him. No apology, more of a shrug of the shoulders. When his meal did eventually arrive it came without the chips, which turned up 5 minutes later. An order of beer also didn't arrive, again back to the bar to ask about it. When we asked for the bill not only was there nothing to acknowledge that one meal hadn't been ordered (when I worked in hospitality we would have comp'd a drink or dessert by way of apology), the beer that had been ordered but not delivered was still on the bill so again back to the bar to get this rectified. We felt unimportant and ignored (it was impossible to catch a server's eye, they actively avoided eye contact) and it was a real disappointment, especially with the prices we paid. Finally, one of the chalets on the lake opposite to us had been rented out to a large group of drunk young men who played loud music and shouted and sang most of the Friday night and the Saturday morning. Again, not the fault of the campsite but I was surprised they were not spoken to by security and asked to be more considerate of their fellow campers.

Great location for kids
The 4 grandchildren (ages between 6-3) really enjoyed the freedom to cycle round the park safely, play by the lake and do lots of swimming in the indoor pool. They really enjoyed Monkey Town which is a short drive away. The kids thought Monkey Town was better than Efteling which is also a short drive away. Another plus was De Pannekoekenbakker in Baarle Nassau. Great pancakes with a good kids menu and they get given 4 coins which they can spend in the pancakes own shop. Our second great holiday here. See you again next year.
