Sightseeing in Flevoland and beyond

Out & About

The ‘New Land’ offers much more natural beauty, tourist attractions and culture than many people think. The Horsterwold and the Oostvaardersplassen are unique nature reserves.

Lelystad and Biddinghuizen boast family attractions of national significance. To top it off, there is the Veluwe at the far side of the lake, which can be reached via Harderwijk or by bicycle ferry from Zeewolde to Strand Horst (Beach Horst).

Village

Village

Zeewolde is a cosy village within walking distance from the park. If you fancy going shopping, visit the Batavia Stad fashion outlet in Lelystad. A must for fashionistas!

The impressive Dutch East India Company ship, De Batavia, at the Bataviawerf in Lelystad, and the Nieuwe Land Poldermuseum are both well worth a visit.

Adventure

Adventure

Two must-visit places in the area: the Dolfinarium in Harderwijk with spectacular marine animal shows and, for some theme park action, Walibi World in Biddinghuizen.

The Veluwerandmeer, and especially the Wolderwijd, is a great water sports location for surfing or catamaran sailing.

Walking on a film set

Walking on a film set

Another tourist attraction close to RCN Zeewolde are the magnificent Oostervaardersplassen, where the film De Nieuwe Wildernis was filmed. The waters were used as a set for two years for this Dutch wildlife film. You can stride through the canes, coarse grasslands and vast waters. Pick up your car router at the RCN Zeewolde reception to see all the marvellous viewpoints in this area.
