RCN Val de Cantobre
This part of southern France is not only blessed with beautiful landscapes and untouched nature, it also has many historical and cultural places of interest. Old towns with churches and fortresses dating back to the Middle Ages or even the Roman era let you relive the glorious past. The two world-famous caves located in Aven Armand and Roquefort also merit a visit.
Les Grandes Causses is an area of limestone plateaus deeply cut by rivers. The landscape is simply astounding. But it is also rich with wild animals. The limestone is covered by orchids in the spring which attracts all sorts of birds on the plateaus and the wooded valleys between them. Birds of prey can be seen, including all four sorts of European vulture. Although it isn’t far from the south coast, the region is still fairly unknown, so come and enjoy the peace and quiet and the rich flora and fauna while you can. More information and walking routes are available from reception.
