You almost feel cheeky paying so little
Wow,wow, wow. What a place!. This was our first visit to an RCN site and big were we surprised!. We had just come from a small family run site that was lovely but as soon as we arrived at Belledonne, we knew we'd been upgraded but without an extra charge!. The entry to the site is wide and has plenty of parking which is always a concern when you're a towing a large caravan. The welcome was warm and very efficient with clear advice on ordering bread the following morning and giving us the option to change our pitch if we didn't like the one allocated. We had asked for an extra large pitch and it certainly was. We could fit our 7m long caravan, awning and two cars on it easily. All the pitches are well paid out in small quarters like a town but with each quarter hidden from the others by 2m hedges so each pitch felt private. We arrived at the end of the season in late September so there was no animation and the restaurant only had limited options but we knew this and found the ambience just perfect. The bar area had a real classy look and feel to it with warm lighting and a terrace overlooking the pool. There is a well stocked shop on site that had everything you'd need and this is where they took bread orders for the following morning. There are a number of static homes on the site but they are all new and a very modern design so they don't feel intrusive. They are also kept separate from the touring pitches and it gives the site a good separation. The shower and toilet facilities are where the site really is a cut above the rest and no detail has been overlooked from using soft close doors so no banging each time someone leaves, a shower block that is enclosed and heated with cubicles that are so large that there is an area for getting changed and also a sink and mirror separate from the actual shower. it felt like I was in a hotel!. The whole feel of the sanitary block is high end with nice fittings and lights. The toilets are spotless and always had paper and hand soap. The site is completely surrounded by mountains so whichever pitch you choose, you are guaranteed a great view. It is also situated in a great area with easy cycling direct from the gates. Directly behind the site is a lovely tarmac cycle path along the river into the town of Bourg d'oisans from where you can then cycle up the Alp d'huez with its 21 hairpin bends or from the site, there is also a direct road to the Col de croix de fer. Both are amazing routes with breath taking scenery. And to keep up with current trends, they have installed an electric car charging point and a large recycling collection point. We could not fault this site at all. It's the kind of place you could come and lie by the pool whilst enjoying the mountain scenery of taking yourself off for some epic bike rides or scenic walks through the mountains. Although this was our first visit to an RCN site, now we know the standard they offer, we will certainly be back! And here's the kicker!. They even accept the ACSI card so it's like getting handed the keys to an Audi when you've paid for a Skoda!. Marvellous!!🤗
