Andernach is beautiful town in the Rhineland-Palatinate, on the left bank of the Rhine. Its history is more than two thousand years old, making it one of the oldest towns in Germany. A familiar symbol of the town is the Round Tower. It is 65 metres high, and a hole in its west side is a reminder of a French attempt to blow it up in the 17th century.
